Harvest premium straw pellets
Agripellets our parent company has developed a premium wheat straw based fuel pellet by combining straw with other agricultural crop by-products and additivies to improve pellet durability and combustion properties.
By combining quantities of oil seed rape cake and glycerol, both by-products in the production of biodiesel from oil seed rape, Agripellets has been able to produce a pellet with a similar net calorific value and durability as wood pellets.
This product offers an economic alternative to wood pellets and offers the following advantages :
- easier handling
- low dust
- higher calorific value
These pellets are an ideal fuel for domestic and small commercial customers. Agripellets has received funding from the Home Grown Cereals Authority to develop and market this product.
Wood pellets
Agripellets will also soon be able to offer wood pellets. These offer a biomass fuel with a high calorific value and low ash content. We have been able to minimize the carbon emitted in the production of these pellets by using waste heat to dry the wood fibre prior to pelleting. These pellets are derived from arboricultural off cuts, forestry brash and short rotation coppice.
Our wood pellets will be available from winter 2010
